The President of the United States, Donald Trump, has posted a picture of himself on Twitter titled as the "Acting President of Venezuela."

Edited image sparks attention online

The picture appeared to be an editesd version of a Wikipedia page, stating Trump as the current president of Venezuela as of January 2026.

Meanwhile, the image also mentioned the president’s real official positions, which are the 45th and 47th President of the United States. The post drew huge attention as Trump does not hold any official position in Venezuela.

Positive tone on US–Venezuela relations

The post was shared after Trump had been giving a positive view about the relationships between the US and Venezuela. He mentioned that America is doing great with the current leadership in Venezuela and hinted that the two countries are getting closer. He referred to oil exports and continuous dialogues as signs of cooperation getting better.

Trump, while speaking to the medics in Air Force One, mentioned that Venezuela was "really working out well" and that the US was having smooth relations with the leadership in Caracas. He said that the situation was following the US operation that had recently ousted Nicholas Maduro from power in Venezuela.

Major oil shipment to the United States

Trump revealed that Venezuela had asked US for the acceptance of large shipment of oil. In his words, the demand was for 50 million barrels of oil, which is roughly four billion dollars in value.

He reportede to have accepted the offer and assured that the oil consignment had already been shipped to the USA. This utterance gave a clear picture of the two nations' increasing economic collaboration especially in the energy sector part.

In response to the question regarding his intention to meet Delcy Rodríguez, the Venezuelan Vice President, Trump replied that he would eventually meet her and complimented her by saying that she had been very nice, as reported by IANS.

He also indicated to a potential meeting with the leader of the Venezuelan opposition Maria Corina Machado, expressing that he was very excited about the upcoming meeting with her.

Oil companies show interest, Exxon criticised

Trump declared that numerous oil firms had expressed considerable interest in Venezuela.

Nevertheless, he took a jab at ExxonMobil, stating that he was displeased with the firm's reaction and labelling it as too timid.

Trump continued to say that the oil companies would receive convincing promises that their money would be safe and that there would be no inoperability in Venezuela.

Cuba, military role and regional diplomacy

He attributed the past woes in relations with Venezuela to the previous US administrations, stating that the then-existing problems were due to the fact that he was not the president of the country at that time.

Trump also brought up the subject of a wider regional diplomacy, which included talks with Cuba but he did not elaborate on it and just said that more would be revealed shortly.

Previously, Trump had tweeted that Venezuela would cease its supply of oil and money to Cuba. He announced that the US military would be the force that separates the two nations.

Trump asserted that the time when Venezuela needed the protection of the forces that had held it captive was over, and thus the United States would take on the role of protector with its military might.
