Thailand on Monday launched air attacks on its neighbour Cambodia, as a conflict erupted in several regions along their disputed border. Thailand's military confirmed the strikes in the latest breach of US President Donald Trump-brokered ceasefire.
Both Thailand and Cambodia blamed each other for the ceasefire violation.
The development follows a Trump-brokered peace deal agreed upon by both sides in October during the US president's Asia tour, and hours after he reiterated his claim of having ended eight wars in different parts of the world.
"...I have settled 8 Wars in 10 months because of the rights clearly given to the President of the United States. If countries didn’t think these rights existed, they would have said so, LOUD AND CLEAR! Thank you for your attention to this matter," Trump wrote on social network Truth Social.
In July, a simmering border dispute between both countries had blown out into a five-day conflict before a ceasefire deal was brokered by Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim and Trump.
The 47th American president also witnessed the signing of an expanded peace pact between Thailand and Cambodia in Kuala Lumpur in October.
Also reiterating his claim of ending eight wars at the Kennedy Center Honors event in Washington DC, Trump told reporters that he was able to achieve this with trade deals and tariffs.
"We have tremendous flexibility with the current system. It's unbelievable for national security. I've ended eight wars, largely because of trade and because of tariffs. If we go the other tariff route, it won't give you the same pure national security," said Trump.

The Thailand-Cambodia border conflict traces back to 1904-1907 Franco-Siamese treaties. That was during French colonial rule over Cambodia.
A 1907 French map strayed from the treaty's watershed boundary, placing Preah Vihear Temple in Cambodia -- a move disputed by Thailand.
In 1962, an International Court of Justice verdict granted Cambodia sovereignty over the Khmer site. Thailand's resentment fuelled clashes, notably in 2008-2011.
