<p>Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday welcomed the agreement on the US President Donald Trump's first phase of the peace plan for Israel and Hamas. PM Modi also praised Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu for his 'strong leadership'.</p>

<p>In addition to welcoming the peace agreement, PM Modi has hoped that the release of hostages and an enhanced humanitarian assistance will bring respite to the people of Gaza and 'pave the way for lasting peace'.</p>

<p>Earlier, the American president announced through his Truth Social post that both Israel and Hamas had agreed to the first phase of Trump's 20-point peace plan for Gaza.</p>
<p>"I am very proud to announce that Israel and Hamas have both signed off on the first Phase of our Peace Plan. This means that ALL of the Hostages will be released very soon, and Israel will withdraw their Troops to an agreed upon line as the first steps toward a Strong, Durable, and Everlasting Peace", Trump announced.</p>
<p>The US President also thanked the mediators from Qatar, Egypt, and Turkey, who worked to make 'this Historic and Unprecedented Event happen' and claimed it to be a "GREAT Day for the Arab and Muslim World, Israel, all surrounding Nations, and the United States of America". </p>

<p>Israel's PM Benjamin Netanyahu called the agreement on the first phase of Trump's peace plan a diplomatic success that will bring back the hostages.</p>
<p>"With the approval of the first phase of the plan, all our hostages will be brought home. This is a diplomatic success and a national and moral victory for the State of Israel", the official X post read.</p>
<p>Netanyahu also added that they have maintained a clear stance from the beginning that they will not 'rest' until all of their goals are achieved and their hostages are released.</p>
