Big worry for Indian employers, country makes it to this negative top 10 list even as jobs available

According to the latest survey released by ManpowerGroup, a situation of acute shortage of talent is being faced by employers around the world - it is the worst in 12 years. India with 56 per cent lies among the top 10 most affected countries where it is difficult to fill the vacant positions.

As the global economy is strengthening, employers are optimistic about hiring but new technologies and changed skills have left them with unfilled roles.

ManpowerGroup carried out a Talent Shortage survey in which globally 45 per cent of 40,000 employers are struggling to fill roles.

"With record talent shortages around the world, it's no longer a question of simply finding talent; we need to build it," ManpowerGroup Chairman & CEO Jonas Prising told PTI.

Organisations need to accelerate efforts to upskill and reskill employees for the new world of work so companies succeed and people have employment security for the long term, added Prising.

The countries like Japan (89%), Romania (81%), Taiwan (78%), Hong Kong (76%), Bulgaria (68%), Turkey (66%) find it most difficult to fill the vacant place in the company. So, these are listed among the worst-affected countries.

It is found that globally the position of Skilled traders (electricians, welders, mechanics) are hardest to fill, followed by sales representatives, engineers, and drivers.

As companies are transforming, they are looking for people with technical and computer skills along with communication skill, collaboration, and problem-solving ability.

Countries like China (13%), Ireland (18%), UK (19%), Netherlands (24%) and Spain (24%) finds it least difficult to fill the vacant space by the right talent.

According to the report, 29% of employers believe that the lack of applicants is the main reason behind the positions remaining vacant. Employers pay great importance to soft skills and more than half of them say that communication skills are their most valued soft skills after collaboration and problem-solving.

Among the seven continents, Asia specific nations find most difficulty in looking for talents. Japan, Taiwan, Hong Kong, Singapore, and India lies among the top 10 worst affected countries which are in Asia.
