We all know that Neil Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin were the first two humans to walk on the moon. But did you know that there are 12 people who have walked on the moon?

Let's take a look at the 12 astronauts who have walked on the moon:

Neil Armstrong (1930-2012)

American astronaut and aeronautical engineer Neil Alden Armstrong was the first man to walk on the moon in the year 1969. He was the commander of the Apollo 11 mission.

Buzz Aldrin (1930-)

American former astronaut, engineer, and fighter pilot Edwin "Buzz" Aldrin followed Neil Armstrong onto the lunar surface in 1969 and became the second man to walk on the moon.

Pete Conrad (1930-1999)

The American NASA astronaut, aeronautical engineer, naval officer and aviator, and test pilot, Charles "Pete" Conrad commanded the Apollo 12 space mission and became the third person to walk on the moon.

Alan Bean (1932-2018)

Alan LaVern Bean was selected to become an astronaut by NASA in 1963 as part of Astronaut Group 3 and was the fourth person to walk on the Moon.

Alan Shepard (1923-1998)

Alan Bartlett Shepard Jr. was an American astronaut, naval aviator, test pilot, and businessman. He became the fifth and oldest person to walk on the Moon at age 47.

Edgar Mitchell (1930-2016)

Edgar Dean Mitchell was the sixth person to walk on the Moon. He served as the lunar module pilot of the Apollo 14 mission in 1971.

David Scott (1932-)

David Randolph Scott was accompanied by James Benson Irwin who served as Lunar Module pilot for Apollo 15 mission. He was the eighth person to walk on the moon and the first, and youngest, of those astronauts to pass away.

John Young was accompanied by Charles Moss Duke Jr. in the Apollo 16 mission. Duke is an American former astronaut who became the 10th and youngest person to walk on the moon, at age 36 years and 201 days.
