Redmi 12 5G has a crystal glass back design that looks premium. It is 8.17mm thick and weighs under 200 grams. However, it feels quite hefty. The smartphone also comes with 5ATM water-resistant rating.
It comes with a 6.79 FHD+ display which offers a peak brightness of 550 nits and a 90Hz AdaptiveSync display. While the display looks vibrant, scrolling through web pages feels smooth.
Redmi 12 5G is powered by Qualcomm Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 SoC. This is the first phone to be powered by this chip. The chip is capable of handling your day-to-day task easily. However, you may face some lag during heavy usage. We will discuss this in our full review.
The Redmi 12 5G boots MIUI 14 based on Android 13. There are several customisation and personalisation options available. However, there are a few bloatware apps preinstalled.
The smartphone comes with features like a side-mounted fingerprint scanner, AI-based facial recognition, an IR emitter, Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 5.3 connectivity. The fingerprint scanner is quite responsive.
The Redmi 12 5G comes with a dual-camera setup. While the primary camera is of a 50-megapixel, the secondary one is just a 2-megapixel depth sensor. The camera is capable of clicking decent images during the day. However, in low light, the images are not that perfect
The smartphone has an 8-megapixel punch-hole front camera. Again, it can click decent selfies during daylight but struggles in low light.
