The Regional Rapid Transit System (RRTS) trains, running on the New Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS route, were inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday, October 20.

As per official sources, the RRTS trains are known as 'Namo Bharat'.

Here are 10 facts regarding the swanky new train system inaugurated by PM Modi — 

The 17 km long priority section was inaugurated on Friday and is running between Sahibabad and Duhai depot.

It is running between five stations — Sahibabad, Ghaziabad, Guldhar, Duhai and Duhai Depot.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is now open for passengers (on October 21) — a day after the inauguration.

The RRTS is a new rail-based, semi-high-speed, high-frequency commuter transit system with a design speed of 180 kmph.

The foundation stone for the Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor was laid by Prime Minister Modi on March 8, 2019.

The National Capital Region has three RRTS corridors in Phase-I —  Delhi–Ghaziabad–Meerut, Delhi-Gurugram-SNB-Alwar and Delhi-Panipat.

The Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut corridor has been developed at a cost of more than Rs 30,000 crore.

This RRTS connects Delhi to Meerut in less than an hour via the urban centers of Ghaziabad, Muradnagar and Modinagar.

The RRTS is a state-of-the-art regional mobility solution and is comparable to the best in the world, PMO said.

Baggage scanning system at stations of the priority section of Delhi-Ghaziabad-Meerut RRTS Corridor is equipped with artificial intelligence-powered technology that will alert and help security staff identify restricted or prohibited items
