The tournament will kick start on 27 August and the final match will be played on 11 September. This would be the 15th edition of the Asia Cup, first being played in 1984.
The much-awaited and high-voltage match of the tournament will be played between India and Pakistan on 28 August, Sunday.

This high-profile clash between arch-rivals India and Pakistan will take place in the Dubai International Cricket Stadium in Dubai, UAE. Although the hosting rights are owned by Sri Lanka, the Asia Cup 2022 will be played in UAE following the political and economic crisis in the island nation.

The Asia Cup, which was last played in 2018, will be played in the T20 format after two years of a long wait in the UAE. The main tournament will feature six teams divided into two groups. India, Pakistan and the qualifier are in Group A while Sri Lanka, Bangladesh and Afghanistan form Group B. Each team plays within the group once.

The top two teams from each group will further play in a `Super 4` round, meaning there is a high probability of at least another India - Pakistan game in the second round before the final where the top two would feature.
