<p><strong>Delhi CM Announcement: </strong>After weeks of speculation, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) on Wednesday named first-time MLA Rekha Gupta as the next chief minister of Delhi, marking the party’s return to power in the capital after over 26 years. New Delhi MLA Parvesh Verma has been appointed as the Deputy chief minister. </p>
<p>After the official announcement, taking to her official handle on X, Delhi's newly appointed chief minister wrote, "I express my heartfelt gratitude to the top leadership for trusting me and entrusting me with the responsibility of the Chief Minister's post. This trust and support have given me new energy and inspiration.</p>

<p>With this victory, BJP returns to power in Delhi for the first time since Sushma Swaraj’s short-lived tenure in 1998, which lasted just 69 days.  </p>
<h2> <strong>BJP's comeback after 26 years  </strong></h2>
<p>The BJP’s victory in the February 5 Delhi Assembly elections ended the Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) decade-long rule. The saffron party won 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP secured 21. The Congress, which once dominated Delhi politics, failed to win a single seat for the third consecutive election.  </p>
<p>The BJP’s vote share stood at 45.8 per cent, narrowly surpassing AAP’s 43.8 per cent. Despite its loss, the Congress witnessed a slight rise in its vote share, increasing from 4.3 per cent in 2020 to 6.4 per cent this time.  </p>
<p>Prominent AAP leaders, including party chief Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Satyendar Jain, and Saurabh Bharadwaj, suffered electoral defeats. However, Atishi retained her Kalkaji seat, defeating BJP’s Ramesh Bidhuri.  </p>

BJP leaders have confirmed that the entire Cabinet will take the oath together in a high-profile event, with around 40 celebrities also expected to attend.  BJP general secretaries Tarun Chugh and Vinod Tawde have been assigned to oversee the preparations. The event is expected to draw a large crowd, with arrangements being made to accommodate thousands of supporters.  </p>
