Delhi Election 2025 Exit Polls: Polling is currently underway across all 70 constituencies in Delhi in a single-phase election. Voting began at 7 am and will conclude at 6:30 pm. Once polling ends, exit polls—surveys conducted among voters as they leave polling stations—will be released to provide an early indication of the possible outcome.

What are exit polls and why do they matter?

Exit polls are conducted by surveying voters after they have cast their ballots to predict the election outcome. These surveys aim to capture voter preferences and trends before the official results are announced. However, their accuracy depends on factors such as sample size, margin of error, and the honesty of respondents. While exit polls can offer insights into public sentiment, they are not foolproof and should be interpreted with caution.

When will Delhi exit poll results be announced?

The Election Commission of India has prohibited the publication or broadcast of exit poll results before 6:30 pm on February 5. As per election guidelines, no media outlet or platform is allowed to release exit poll findings while voting is still in progress. Therefore, voters will have to wait until polling concludes to access these projections.

Are exit polls reliable?

While exit polls aim to gauge voter preferences before the official results are announced, their reliability has often been questioned. In past elections, some exit polls have accurately predicted trends, while others have missed the mark. Factors like sampling errors, response biases, and last-minute voter shifts can impact the accuracy of these surveys.

Delhi election results: A look back at 2020

The last Delhi Assembly elections were held on February 8, 2020, with a voter turnout of 62.82 per cent. This marked a decline of 4.65 per cent from the 2015 elections but was 2.2 per cent higher than Delhi’s turnout in the 2019 Lok Sabha polls. The Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), led by Arvind Kejriwal, secured a landslide victory, winning 62 out of 70 seats and forming the government for the third consecutive term.

However, in a significant political development, Kejriwal resigned on September 21, 2024, following his arrest on corruption charges. Subsequently, Atishi was sworn in as the new Chief Minister of Delhi.
