Delhi Election Results 2025: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has taken a significant lead in the Delhi Assembly elections, crossing the halfway mark with 47 seats, while the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) trails with 22, and Congress holds just one seat, as per early trends reported by Zee News.
As per the Election Commission of India's (ECI) website at 9:40 am, the BJP is leading in 32 seats, while the AAP holds the lead in 14 seats.
AAP’s top leaders trailing
In a major setback for AAP, its key leaders, including former chief minister Arvind Kejriwal, Atishi, and Manish Sisodia, are currently trailing. Meanwhile, BJP’s Parvesh Verma is leading from the high-profile New Delhi Assembly constituency.
Vote counting underway
The counting of votes for all 70 Delhi Assembly seats began at 8 am on Saturday. Both AAP and BJP are vying for control of the national capital, with AAP seeking a third consecutive term.
Polling was conducted in a single phase on February 5, with a voter turnout of 60.54 per cent. The North East Delhi district recorded the highest turnout at 66.25 per cent, while the lowest voting percentage was in the South East Delhi district at 56.40 per cent.
Delhi’s political landscape
AAP had dominated the last two Assembly elections, securing 62 out of 70 seats in 2020, while BJP won only eight. Congress, once a dominant force with 15 years in power, failed to secure any seats in the last two elections and is expected to have a similar performance this time.
As counting continues, the Election Commission will provide regular updates, with clearer trends expected by noon. The final results will determine whether AAP retains power or if BJP stages a comeback after over two decades.
