Earth Hour 2023: Earth Hour is a global grassroots movement organised by the World Wildlife Fund (WWF) at the end of March every year. More than an annual event – it is a movement that unites people to take action on environmental issues and protect the planet.

According to the official website, the first Earth Hour event was held on 31 March 2007 by WWF-Australia inspiring Sydney-siders to show their support for climate action. More than 2.2 million individuals and 2,000 businesses turned their lights out for one hour in the first Earth Hour event.

On the last Saturday, March 25, India too participated in the Earth Hour movement and turn off non-essential electric lights for one hour between 08.30 pm to 09.30 pm.
