Navroz 2023: Google Doodle on Wednesday, 21 March is celebrating the Iranian New Year, Nowroz. Nowroz marks the beginning of the spring season. Families across the globe decorate their homes with spring flowers - hyacinths, daffodils, tulips, and bee orchids. Nowroz is celebrated with great pomp and shows in the main Middle East, the South Caucasus, the Black Sea Basin, and Northern, Western, Central, and South Asia"

The word Navroz comes from two 'Nav' and 'Roz'. 'Nav' in Persian stands for ‘new’ while ‘Roz’ means ‘day’ which literally translates to ‘new day’.

 "As winter fades, and the northern hemisphere begins to thaw, it's time to celebrate Nowruz. Today's Doodle highlights this ancient holiday that marks the beginning of spring. More than 300 million people gather around the world on this day each year to celebrate the season of rebirth.” Google wrote.

United Nations has declared the festival as an international holiday as it is being celebrated by over 300 million people across the globe.
