Byju Raveendran on Monday confirmed that an FIR has been registered in connection with an alleged criminal conspiracy involving the embattled edtech giant BYJU'S. The complaint was filed by Rajendran Vellapalath, a former associate of BYJU’S, against the company’s Interim Resolution Professional (IRP) Pankaj Srivastava, GLAS Trust, and two EY partners.
The complainant alleged that IRP Pankaj Srivastava failed to carry out his duties properly. Srivastava, along with other individuals—Dinkar Venkatasubramanian, Rahul Agarwal, Lokesh Gupta—and GLAS Trust, is accused of misleading the court by providing misleading information.
This alleged misrepresentation led to significant losses for BYJU’S shareholders. Srivastava and his associates are also accused of submitting forged documents for personal gain. Additionally, BYJU’S collapse reportedly resulted in unpaid salaries for employees and disruption of tuition for students.
According to the FIR, Pankaj Srivastava—who played a key role in the company’s insolvency proceedings—is accused of illegally transferring control of the process to Dinkar Venkatasubramanian, a senior representative at Ernst &amp; Young LLP. Also named in the FIR are Rahul Agarwal and Lokesh Gupta, both associated with EY, as well as GLAS Trust LLC, represented by Khaitan &amp; Co in New Delhi.
Taking to his official handle on X, Raveendran wrote, "FIR filed against those involved in a criminal conspiracy against BYJU'S: Pankaj, the RP who illegally handed over the insolvency process to Dinkar, Rahul &amp; Lokesh from EY who are the agents of GLAS, a collective of crooks."
