Bengaluru-based startup Smallest AI, founded by Sudarshan Kamath, has sparked a buzz on social media after posting a job opening for skilled tech professionals, offering a salary package of Rs 40 lakh per annum, including ESOPs, along with a five-day workweek.
In his post on X, Kamath stated that candidates would not need to submit their educational qualifications or resumes, a move that quickly grabbed the Internet’s attention.
According to Kamath, candidates with zero to two years of experience can apply for the position. "We are looking to hire a highly skilled full-stack engineer at Smallest AI. Send a short 100-word introduction about yourself along with links to your best work to info@smallest.ai," he wrote. Emphasising a skills-first approach, he added, "College – does not matter. Resume – not needed." The company's office is located in Bengaluru’s Indiranagar.

Kamath’s post, has triggered mixed responses from professionals and entrepreneurs. While some were intrigued by the unconventional hiring process, others questioned the offer details.
A user wrote, "Are you misrepresenting the CTC, or are the ESOPs part of the annual package?"
Another pointed out the cost of living in Indiranagar, saying, "Out of Rs 15 lakh in-hand, around Rs 35,000 would go toward rent in a shared apartment, plus expenses for groceries, weekends, and EMIs. If you manage to save Rs 20,000, consider yourself lucky."
Some users even speculated about Kamath’s intentions. "Maybe he's training an AI model to collect data on how Indians introduce themselves in interviews," one comment read.
Others criticised the wording of the job post. "Don't use 'cracked' if you can't offer a cracked salary. Respectfully, it’s not a good look for you or your company," a user remarked.
Another simply noted, "X is becoming LinkedIn."
