Beer sales touch record Rs 400 crore in Ghaziabad amid scorching summer heat
The department officer acknowledged that stable prices of beer and scorching heat were the primary reasons for the record-breaking sales.
When the entire country was burning with excruciating heat, people in Ghaziabad found a new way to fight it- beer.
The city between April and June saw a record sales of beer primarily because of heat and stable prices of the beverage, as per the excise department of Ghaziabad.
The excruciating heat wave that gripped the region has led to a record-breaking sale of beer in the city, said an official.
Between April and June this year, beer worth approximately Rs 400 crore was sold in Ghaziabad, the department reported.
The department officer acknowledged that stable prices of beer and scorching heat were the primary reasons for the record-breaking sales.
"The excruciating heat and no increase in prices led to a record sale of beer," said Rakesh Kumar, District Excise Inspector.
In the three months - April, May, and June - sales revenue touched Rs 397.16 crore, a 106 per cent increase year-on-year (YoY), according to department data.
Similarly, beer can volume sales in these three months were 1,33,69,674, a 116 per cent rise YoY, up from 1,15,01,960 last year.
