India's Ambassador to the United Nations Syed Akbaruddin and his team celebrated World Bicycle Day in New York. Various countries including Turkmenistan, Bahrain, Indonesia and Canada participated in the event. World Bicycle Day is celebrated worldwide on June 03.

Attempts to include South-South cooperation in the overall international aid system "do no justice to either its historical heritage or its future potential" and are not helpful, India's Permanent Representative to the UN, Syed Akbaruddin, told the UN Conference on South-South Cooperation in Buenos Aires on Thursday.

'Rising South-South Cooperation no excuse to cut aid'

India skipped China's high-profile Belt and Road Forum last year due to its sovereignty concerns over the USD 50 billion China-Pakistan Economic Corridor (CPEC), which passes through PoK.

The contribution is voluntary with no strings attached and is in addition to the regular payments India makes to the UN`s general and peacekeeping budgets
