Indian equity benchmarks after falling sharply in Friday's session (August 2) snapped D-Street's 8-week winning run. The Nifty and Sensex indices for the week ended August 2 ended 0.47 per cent and 0.43 per cent lower, respectively.
Indian equities slumped in Friday's session as weak global cues weighed on sentiments. Nifty at the close ended over 1 per cent or 293.2 points lower at 24,717.7, while the Sensex retreated by 1.08 per cent or 885.59 at 80,981.95.
Indian equities are at fresh peaks and investors are suggested to remain put with their investments as historical data in itself is a big evidence of the huge returns reaped by staying invested.

Share Market Today August 2: Domestic equity benchmarks Nifty50 and Sensex registered record closing highs on Thursday led by buying in financial and energy shares although selling in auto stocks limited the upside. A bunch of stocks are set to be in focus during the last trading session of the week, including ITC, Britannia, Maruti Suzuki India, Cipla, and Coforge.
Indian equities registered fresh closing highs in a highly volatile trade with the Nifty holding on to 25,000 levels at the close.
After scaling fresh highs on likely easing in interest rate cycle by the US Fed in September, Indian equities registered some correction.

Indian equities in a volatile session after clocking a fresh all-time high at early start to the week ended mildly higher. At the close, Sensex ended flat with minor gains of 0.028 per cent at 81,355.84, an over 550 point crash from the day's high.
Amid new all-time highs hit earlier in the day, headline indices saw sharp sell-off in the mid-day market trade.
Nifty- the bluechip index is trading very close to the stunning 25,000 level and if it hits the level, it will be in just 32 days when the index climbs such record levels as per Zee Business research desk data.
