Monsoon Rains News:&nbsp;The India Meteorological Department (IMD) - the national weather forecasting agency - has announced that active monsoon conditions are expected to impact most of the northwestern regions of the country over the next four to five days. This update was shared on the microblogging platform X (formerly known as Twitter). The IMD has forecasted an "increase in rainfall activity, with isolated instances of heavy downpours," particularly affecting the eastern parts of the country starting Tuesday, July 30. This shift in weather patterns indicates that residents in these regions should prepare for potentially significant rainfall and associated impacts.

IMD predicts active monsoon conditions in most northwestern regions over next 4-5 days 

The India Meteorological Department defines average, or normal, rainfall as ranging between 96 per cent and 104 per cent of a 50-year average of 87 cm (35 inches) for the four-month season.

India is likely to receive below-normal monsoon rains in 2023 as the climate phenomenon El Nino takes over. Private weather agency Skymet has predicted that there is an increasing likelihood of El-Nino in Asia, which could become a dominant category during the monsoon.
