From September 1, 2024, GST authorities will only allow the filing of GSTR-1 returns or the submission of data using the Invoice Furnishing Facility (IFF) of the registered taxpayer who has furnished their bank account details. According to an advisory dated August 23 shared by the GST Network on microblogging site X (formerly Twitter), the GST taxpayer "will not be able to furnish GSTR-01/IFF" .

The ministry said since the ITC is being availed on the basis of summary sales return or GSTR-3B filed, hence the deadline has been kept at October 20. The GSTR-3B of a particular month has to be filed by the 20th day of the subsequent month.

The Government of India, in a statement on Monday said, "The last date for filing GSTR-1 for the month of July, 2017 is&nbsp;10th October, 2017. An extension of two months has already been given. There will be no further extension given to taxpayers for filing their GSTR-1 return for July."

The GST Council once again decided to extend the deadline in filing of GST returns as there have been complaints of difficulties being faced due to technical gliches on the GST website.
