Foodgrain production of 3235.54 lakh tonnes estimated in current agricultural year: Govt

As per the data released by the Ministry, the production of wheat (record) in the country is estimated at 1121.82 LMT which is higher by 44.40 LMT as compared to the previous year’s production.

Ministry of Agriculture released its first advanced estimates of a record high Kharif foodgrain production which is estimated to be at 135.03 million tonnes (MT). The country’s foodgrain output will shoot up 9% with record production of rice and pulses as well.

A record high production of 135.03 million tonnes (MT) of Kharif food grains has been estimated by the Ministry of Agriculture on Thursday. The first advanced estimates for 2016-17 showed that the production of these foodgrains this year is up by 11.02 MT.
