Many areas of India are vulnerable to floods, destruction from Odisha to Chhattisgarh

Most parts of the country including Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal and Assam in the east, Maharashtra and Telangana in the west and South Indian states of Andhra Pradesh have been receiving heavy rainfall for the last few days, including states in the north. The situation has worsened in some states to change to a flood-like situation.

Water has entered in low line area after it was released from Kaliasot Dam. The rescue operation is being conducted by the Bhopal Municipal Corporation to safeguard the masses. People have been shifted to the safe places from their residential areas.

12-year-old boy felicitated for guiding ambulance in floodwater

As part of Independence Day celebrations, the Raichur administration felicitated 12-year-old Venkatesh for guiding a stuck ambulance in floodwater. The incident occurred near the Hirerayanakumpi village in Karnataka's Raichur district. Hearing the driver's call for help, Venkatesh agreed to guide him in taking his vehicle out of the water safely. In the footage Venkatesh was stumbling several times while attempting to help the driver.

NDRF carries out rescue operation in parts of Maharashtra

NDRF continues rescue operation in flood-affected areas in Gujarat

Water-logging followed by incessant downpour has thrown life of residents out of gear in Surat and Navsari districts of Gujarat. National Disaster Response Force (NDRF) teams and Indian Air Force helicopters were deployed to carry out rescue operations after water burst into cities as rivers swelled owing to days of incessant rain across the state. NDRF team continues to rescue locals who are stuck in flood in Navsari. Various market areas in the region were also deluged in water and locals had to wade through knee-deep water.
