Agra's Public Works Department is renovating Sarai Khwaja Bridge ahead of US President Donald Trump's visit to the city. Encroached establishments near the bridge are being removed and the bridge is getting painted to beautify the passageway. US President Trump is likely to visit Agra during his visit to India next week. He will be passing through the bridge along with 70-vehicle cavalcade.

A latest circular has come into force, which now restricts visitors to spend more than 3 hours at the iconic monument. Turnstile gates have been introduced to watch over time spent by tourists. "7 turnstile gates have been installed at both the East and West entry point. 5 gates are for the exit. For the entry of foreign tourists, there are separate gates. Entry is only through token which is valid for three hours, exceeding which, a visitor is required to recharge it at the counter at the exit gates," said Basant Kumar, superintendent, Archaeological Survey of India (ASI). Tourists are dismayed by the new rules, asserting that it would cost heavily on tourism.

Keeping this in mind, panic buttons will be set up across the city for people’s safety. 63 streets have been identified for installation of panic buttons that will give alert signals to police, when it is pressed. Panic buttons may also be used for an emergency ambulance service. While speaking to ANI, Mayor of Agra city Naveen Jain, said, “63 streets have been identified for installation of panic buttons that will alert police, when pressed."
