Airtel highlighted its long-standing relationship for connectivity and pan-India managed services with Ericsson and Nokia while stating that partnership with Samsung will begin this year onwards. The Sunil Mittal-led firm recently acquired 19,867.8 MHZ spectrum in 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 3300 MHz and 26 GHz bands, bolstering its spectrum holding.

The auction results are very good, close to Rs 1,49,966 crore has been committed by the industry for buying the spectrum," Telecom Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw said at a briefing in Mumbai, after a telecom investors' roundtable.

5G rollout in India: Cabinet Approves 5G Spectrum Auction, Services To Start Soon In India

India is soon going to get 5G services. The Union Cabinet chaired by Prime Minister Narendra Modi has approved the DoT's ( Department of Telecommunications) 5G Spectrum auction. Soon to provide 5G services, spectrum will be assigned to bidders. The cabinet has claimed that 5G services are going to be about 10 times higher than 4G services. PIB also detailed that "auction will be held for spectrum in various low like (600 MHz, 700 MHz, 800 MHz, 900 MHz, 1800 MHz, 2100 MHz, 2300 MHz), Mid (3300 MHz) and High (26 GHz) frequency bands.” Cabinet also said that The bidders will have an option to surrender the specturm after 10 years with no future liabilities with respect to instalments.
