New UPI Rules From August 1: Everyone should know about these 4 UPI changes taking place from next month

With the new changes, users will be able to check their account balance up to 50 times a day per UPI app. This means, if you have two UPI apps, you can check your balance 50 times on each app.

If you want to check the bank name, like which bank account your mobile number is linked to, you can check that 25 times per day.

This means, if your payment is stuck, you will only be able to check the transaction status three times from August 1. That also requires a gap of at least 90 seconds between each check.

With the permission of APIs (Application Programming Interfaces), Payment Service Providers (PSPs) check if a transaction was successful or not.

Due to frequent outages in April and May, it is believed that most of the issues were caused by excessive calls on UPI APIs, NPCI said. The new rules will help reduce the calls and make the system faster.

As per the rules, three kinds of mobile users were supposed to set up their UPI service again. These include: Those who are yet to update their bank records after changing their mobile numbers. Those keeping a revoked, surrendered or recycled mobile number that is still linked to UPI. Those who have surrendered their mobile SIMs but have yet to update their bank records. Read more
