Q-Commerce Revolution: 10-minute delivery of TV, fridges, and more
)
The world of Q-Commerce is evolving rapidly! It’s no longer limited to just groceries—electronics, smartphones, and even large appliances can now reach your doorstep within minutes. Major players like Amazon, Flipkart, Blinkit, and Swiggy Instamart are leading the charge, strengthening their delivery networks through superstores and dark stores.
Expansion of Q-Commerce
Q-Commerce, short for Quick Commerce, is expanding beyond grocery delivery. Now, products like TVs, laptops, printers, and other electronics are being delivered to customers in just a matter of minutes. Building on the concept of dark stores, plans are underway to establish superstores that will soon deliver large appliances like refrigerators and washing machines in record time.
Amazon’s 10-Minute Delivery Service
Amazon has taken a significant step in this direction with the launch of its 10-minute delivery service, Amazon Now, in Bengaluru. Initially, the service was a pilot project exclusively for employees, but the company is now gearing up to expand it to other cities. Previously known as ‘Tez’, Amazon Now currently focuses on groceries and daily essentials. However, the service plans to soon include categories like beauty, home, and kitchen items, further diversifying its offerings.
Flipkart's Expanding Service and New Offerings
Flipkart is also aggressively expanding its Minutes service, increasing the number of dark stores to over 500 and planning to include the delivery of electronics, smartphones, and even medicines. In the fashion and apparel category, Flipkart’s delivery executives will now bring multiple sizes of products, allowing customers to try them on at home and reducing the need for returns.
Major Brand Partnerships in Q-Commerce
Several big brands have partnered with Q-Commerce companies, ensuring that trusted and branded products reach customers quickly. Leading Q-Commerce players like Blinkit and Swiggy Instamart are already dominating the sector. Blinkit operates over 1,000 dark stores and holds a 41% market share, while Swiggy Instamart has 800+ stores and a 23% market share.
Future Growth and Investment in Q-Commerce
According to Citi Research, India’s Q-Commerce market could reach a massive $31 billion by 2027. However, concerns about profitability persist, as companies like Swiggy focus more on market share growth than immediate profits. Swiggy plans to continue its substantial investments in the Q-Commerce segment through 2026 to stay competitive.
Availability and Expansion of Services
Currently, Q-Commerce services are available in major cities like Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Pune, and Bengaluru, with plans to expand to other locations gradually. This evolution in delivery services is reshaping how we shop, making it faster and more convenient than ever before.
