Apple Users Alert! People using THESE iPhones, iPads could be at risk - Check Complete List

Apple is known for making one of the best smartphones and gadgets in the world. It is a common perception that Apple gives priority to the safety of its users' data. In order to ensure that, the tech giant keeps on rolling out iOS updates from time to time. But even Apple users could be at the risk. According to the Indian Computer Response Team (CERT-In), a vulnerability has been reported in Apple iOS that could make some users vulnerable.

CERT-In warning for these iOS users

The national cybersecurity agency has issued a warning for those using iPhones and iPads of the Cupertino-based tech company. 

“A vulnerability has been reported in Apple iOS which could allow an attacker to execute arbitrary code on the targeted system," a CERT-In advisory says.

The advisory states that there's a type of confusion flaw in the WebKit component which can be easily exploited. The advisory also said that hackers can entice victims into visiting some malicious websites and this can lead to data as well as financial loss.

List of Apple devices that are vulnerable

According to the CERT-In advisory, Apple devices that are running on iOS versions before 12.5.7 are at risk. Here's the list - iPhone 5s, iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus, iPad Air, iPad mini 2, iPad mini 3, and iPod touch (6th generation).

What users can do to stay safe?

In order to stay safe, users need to update their devices on priority. Apple has even released a security patch for iOS 12.5.7. This patch was released by the company on January 23. 

“Processing maliciously crafted web content may lead to arbitrary code execution. Apple is aware of a report that this issue may have been actively exploited against versions of iOS released before iOS 15.1,” Apple said while releasing the patch.
