OPPO launches ‘A5 Pro 5G’ below Rs 18,000: Check out camera, battery, AI & durability features

Oppo A5 Pro 5G Launched: OPPO, a China-headquartered firm known for its budget-friendly smartphones, camera, and smart features, has launched a new model in its ‘A’ series—OPPO A5 Pro 5G—citing a flagship-level model at a mid-range price and officially launched on Thursday, April 24, 2025.

Camera

The smartphone features a 50MP rear camera equipped with an underwater photography mode and AI tools like an eraser, clarity enhancer, and reflection remover.

Battery

The device is powered by a 5,800mAh battery that can provide up to 16 hours of video playback and 8 hours of gaming, according to the company.

It also supports 45W SUPERVOOC Flash Charge, allowing the device to reach 30% charge in just 20 minutes. The phone runs on ColorOS 15, promising smooth performance.

How AI features helpful in daily life

The A5 Pro 5G integrates several AI-powered features such as a writing assistant, auto-reply, voice recording summaries, and document summarization — tools that can be especially helpful for students and professionals.

For areas with no network connectivity — like mountainous regions, villages, or while travelling — OPPO has introduced the ‘Beacon Link’ feature which enables one-on-one Bluetooth voice calls with a range of up to 205 meters, even without telecom signals.

This smartphone offers various features ideal for adventurers, students, and working professionals. It includes ‘Splash Touch’ and AI LinkBoost, making it adaptable to different environments.

According to OPPO, the A5 Pro 5G can be used with wet hands and on dusty roads and still maintain superior signal strength.

Durability: Waterproof or Splash-resistant?

The phone comes with IP69, IP68, and IP66 certifications that offer protection against water, dust, and high-pressure conditions.

"Supported by military-grade shock resistance, reinforced glass, and Sponge Bionic Cushioning, the A5 Pro 5G is one of the most durable phones in its class," OPPO stated.

“Beyond water and dust resistance, the military-grade shock-resistant A5 Pro 5G is engineered to endure the harshest conditions and features reinforced double-tempered glass, which improves drop resistance by 160 per cent,” the company said, adding Sponge Bionic Cushioning that absorbs shocks from accidental impacts.

According to Oppo, the device has been tested against 14 Military Standard (MIL-STD-810H-2022) conditions, including extreme temperatures,  rain, dust, salt mist, and shocks.

Price, colours, and availability

Oppo has launched A5 Pro 5G in domestic market at a starting price of Rs 17,999. It is available in two colour options and variants, like Mocha Brown and Feather Blue, with 8GB RAM + 128GB storage and 8GB RAM + 256GB storage. The higher variant launched with a price of Rs 19,999.
