As the 2025 edition of the India Energy Week entered its fourth and last day on Friday, February 14, UrjanovaC won the Avinya Energy Startup Challenge, with Breathe ESG, AgriVijay, Apeiro Energy and UGreen Technology as runners-up in the much-anticipated contest aimed at encouraging energy-focused entrepreneurs. The five startups showcased their innovations to more than 70,000 energy professionals from 120 countries.
This year’s India Energy Week witnessed the second edition of the Avinya challenge, which focuses on innovation, the socio-economic impact, sustainability and diversity of the energy startup space, in tandem with the Narendra Modi government’s ‘Aatmanirbhar’ (self-reliant) vision.
This Avinya 2.0 event achieved remarkable growth and generated tremendous enthusiasm across the energy startup ecosystem, attracting more than 170 startups and MSMEs. This marked a nearly 50 per cent increase over the previous edition.
Participants in the startup challenge represented a diverse pool of segments within energy, including oil & gas, renewables, green mobility, biofuels, and technology solutions, highlighting the vibrant innovation within the energy sector.
Organised at the Yashobhoomi international convention and expo centre in the national capital, the spectacular 2025 edition of the India Energy Week also hosted the Vasudha and Hackathon challenges, besides Avinya—all aimed at the acknowledging the start-ups space’s contributions to energy, sustainability and innovation.
Vasudha and Hackathon marked their entries into the vibrant and globally-tracked IEW event. While Vasudha focused on driving innovation in the oil and gas upstream sector, the pan-India IIT Hackathon, representing more than 500 innovators, centred on renewables and CCUS.
