The Uttar Pradesh Real Estate Regulatory Authority (RERA), a state-level regulatory body responsible for ensuring streamlined real estate business operations in UP, said on Tuesday that it had laid off 12 of its staff members in the past upon detecting issues related to their integrity and conduct.
Reiterating its strict punitive action against employees found to be displaying doubtful integrity or conduct, the authority said it constantly monitors across the conduct of its staff across departments in its headquarters as well as its National Capital Region (NCR) office.
Headquartered in Lucknow, the UP RERA’s regional office dedicated to the NCR is located in Greater Noida.
The staff members that were laid off in the past comprised three junior engineers, two LCRAs, one assistant accountant, four computer operators, one help desk employee, and one peon, according to a statement.
The central Real Estate Regulatory Authority and its regional arms, including the UP RERA, were set up in 2016.
The main function of the authority is to ensure the accountability of real estate developers while protecting the interests of consumers at all times.
The authority said it expects its officers and staff to work with sensitivity and honesty across levels. It conducts training sessions for its staff from time to time aimed at improving their skills.
An affidavit of integrity is also taken from every officer and employee in the authority, according to UP RERA Chairman Sanjay Bhoosreddy. The authority has installed CCTV cameras in all the rooms at its offices, and its senior officers use the surveillance technology to track the movement of its staff and visitors. RERA follows a zero-tolerance policy towards indiscipline and misconduct. It has sent a reference to the Bar Council of Uttar Pradesh in one case for action as per the Advocates Act, 1961.
