In response to forged construction cases in Kalyan-Dombivli area, the Maharashtra Real Estate Regulatory Authority (MahaRERA) has taken a significant step to verify the authenticity of occupancy certificates (OCs) submitted for completed real estate projects across the state. On Thursday, April 18, 2024, or another date as per actual notice, MahaRERA sent notices to all relevant authorities, seeking confirmation of the OCs' legitimacy.
The real estate regulator authority asked to verify the uploaded certificates on the MAHA-RERA website for a total of 3,699 completed projects.
This measure comes as developers of these projects claimed completion and submitted their OCs in response to notices issued by MAHA-RERA.
MAHA-RERA has instructed planning authorities to confirm whether the OCs were genuinely issued by them and given a ten-day deadline, if no response is received within this time period, the real estate authority will assume the submitted OCs as authentic and will update the project status accordingly.
The regulatory body has cleared that if any discrepancies or fraudulent activities or documents are found, the entire responsibility, along with any associated risk and financial burden, will lie with the concerned commercial officer.
Here are the details of the distribution of 3,699 projects in the state:
In the Puneregion, a total of 1,223 projects are highlighted by the real estate regulatory authority. Here’s an overview:
