According to Cushman & Wakefield data, the retail space rent costs in Delhi's Cannaught Place rose 14 per cent year-on-year (YoY) during the January–March quarter. However, because of the high demand from shops, rent at Delhi's Khan Market went up by 7 per cent.
The monthly rent in Connaught Place (inner circle) was Rs 1,150-1,250 per square foot (sq ft) in the first quarter of 2025. This is up 14 per cent year-on-year.
The rent in Khan Market is Rs 1,600-1,650 per sq ft. This is seven per cent more on an annual basis. The Cushman & Wakefield report said that the rent is based on the carpet area of the store located on the ground floor.
During J this year, the rent of Greater Kailash-1 M-Block market in Delhi increased by 12 per cent to Rs 475-500 per square foot.
Rent of retail space in Kamala Nagar market in North Delhi rose by 25 per cent to Rs 480-510 per sq ft per month.
Rent of retail space in Lajpat Nagar rose by nine per cent to Rs 290-310 per sq ft per month.
While rents in west Delhi's Punjabi Bagh rose by 8 per cent to Rs 250-270 per sq ft per month.
The report said main road rents in Gurugram's Galleria market rose 20 per cent year-on-year to Rs 1,150-1,250 per sq ft per month.
Nearly 20 premium shopping malls, comprising 123 lakh square feet of retail spaces, will become operational by 2026-end across eight major cities in the country to tap rising demand of retailers looking to expand business, according to Cushman & Wakefield.
These eight cities are-- Delhi-NCR, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai, Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Pune, and Ahmedabad.
