Forget 7th pay commission, these teachers may lose pension, even pay back whopping Rs 4.5 lakh to government

While state government teachers  and professors are still awaiting the 7th pay commission benefits to be cleared for them, employees of Delhi University have received this shocking news. According to an MHRD circular dated March 24, 1999, around 300 lecturers were given a pay hike making their salaries Rs 14,940 in line with the 5th pay commission. (Representative image: DU Website)

Now after almost 22 years after the hike, the university shocked these employees by saying that it made a mistake while implementing the pay hike. The university has now asked the employees to return the extra money paid to them over the last 22 years. (Representative image: IANS)

If they fail to do so, they will have to lose their pension. Some of these employees will have to return as much as Rs 4.5 lakh to retain their pension.
