8th Pay Commission Salary Hike: Central government employees' basic salaries are likely to rise significantly after Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on Thursday that the 8th Pay Commission would be established. The government said that the 7th Pay Commission's tenure will end in December 2026. The formation of the commission, the appointment of its members, and the raise in the basic salary of central government employees are yet to be confirmed. However, once the 8th Pay Commission comes into existence, central government employees are likely to see a substantial raise in their basic salary (8th Pay Commission Salary Hike). In the 7th Pay Commission, the basic salary rose by 2.57 times (based on the fitment factor) to a minimum of Rs 18,000. The maximum basic salary in the same pay commission is Rs 2,50,000.
