8th Pay Commission: When Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced last week that the 8th Pay Commission would be established soon, it ended the wait for lakhs of central government employees across India who had been eagerly waiting for this moment. A message from union minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, on behalf of the PM, said that the 7th Pay Commission will end in December 2026. After that, the 8th Pay Commission should come into effect. However, so far, it's just the announcement. The cabinet will approve it, a pay commission will be formed, it will send its recommendations to the cabinet, which will give its go-ahead for the 8th Pay Commission's recommendation implementation. The whole process is likely to take another two years. However, the big question is how much salary rise central government employees are expected to see.
