7th Pay Commission: Centre puts more money into hands of government employees; check these key announcements

7th Pay Commission Latest Developments: The new year has brought pay hike cheers for lakhs of government employees of both Central and State level. First, the teachers' and professors of the colleges and universities received the 7th pay commission benefits then the railwaymen's allowances were hiked. That was followed by a hike in cash handling and treasury allowances for clerks in ministries and many other developments which put more money into the hands of the central and state staffers. Altogether, over 30 lakh employees have so far benefitted from the pay hike announcements made this month. Here are the five latest developments linked to 7th pay commission:-

7th Pay Commission: The HRD ministry has revised the allowances and special allowances for teachers and equivalent academic cadre, Registrars, Finance Officers and Controller of Examinations in Central Universities and Colleges. The revised special allowance per month for Vice Chancellor, Pro-Vice Chancellor, Principal in PG College and Principal in UG College is Rs 11,250, Rs 9,000, Rs 6,750, and Rs 4,500 respectively. This is likely to benefit 30,000 teaching and equivalent staff in Central Universities and 5500 in Deemed to be Universities. The ministry added that the new allowances will serve as a benchmark for 7 lakh teachers in State Universities too. (Reuters)

7th Pay Commission: Over 200 percent hike in running allowance

7th Pay Commission: In yet another development, the railway ministry has approved over 200% hike in the allowances for its running staffs. As per officials, the ministry has agreed to increase the allowances given to running staff including loco pilots, assistant loco pilots, guards, to Rs 525 per 100 km from Rs 250 for 100 kms at present. (Reuters)

7th Pay Commission: New grade pay for track staffs

7th Pay Commission: The government has also agreed to change the grade pay of railway track staffs. Under the new system, 50% track maintenance staff would be put in the grade of 1800, 20% under 1900, 20% under 2400 grade, while the rest 10% under 2800.  This latest decision would put the majority of gateman and keyman staff under grade 2800. (IANS)

7th Pay Commission: Over 20 lakh employees get new pay scale

7th Pay Commission: Though the Maharashtra government has announced in December to implement the 7th pay commission for its employees, the same has been cleared by CM Devendra Fadnavis on January 27. Now, around 20.50 lakh state government employees will get a new pay scale from February 1. Besides this, these employees will also be getting 37 months arrears as the pay hike has been implemented retrospectively from January 1, 2016.  (Reuters)
