How is DA calculated for government employees?

Dearness allowance is a percentage of the basic salary and is revised every January and July. It is calculated on the basis of the All-India Consumer Price Index (AICPI). The base year for DA calculation is the year 2000.
The DA formula is= ((Average of AICPI for the past 12 months, 115.76)/115.76), and 100.
