7th Pay Commission Latest News Today: There was a lot of apprehension among the central government employees regarding the hike in their Travel Allowance (TA). These apprehensions were triggered by various speculation in the media that the restoration of the Dearness Allowance (DA) from the month of July 2021 will mean a hike in the TA for the central government employees too. However, that is not the scenario. Let us see why the TA for the central government employees may well not be hiked even if the DA is restored.

A livemint.com report clarifies that as per the 7th CPC matrix calculation rule, the TA will not rise even if the DA is increased as the current DA is not 25 per cent and above. Hence, as per the 7th pay commission pay matrix, TA hike for the central government employees from the month of July is not going to be applicable as the existing DA of the central government employees is 17 per cent. It is because of the COVID-19 pandemic, the central government has frozen CGS's DA till the month of June this year. As a result of this, a central government employee can expect DA hike announcement getting due from 1st July 2021 by Dusshehra to Diwali. which means that the DA hike will finally impact the 7th CPC pay matrix of the central government employees by the end of this year.
