/14For the 7th Pay Commission salary calculations, pay band (PB) and grade pay (GP) are the two bases. The employees are categorised in 19 levels of PBs. Each level has one PB. The 13th Level has 2 PBs and as many GPs. PB and GP are categorised as per an employee's rank, education, and responsibility.
/14Take the example of Level 1, where the range of PB is Rs 5,200 to Rs 20,200, and GP is 1,800 flat. In the range of Rs 5,200-Rs 20,000, there are as many as 40 sub-bands. The same PB, GP rule applies for levels from 1-11. In the PB, GP is added to calculate the basic pay. There is no GP from Level 15-18.
/14Government employees get DA so that their salary can adjust to rising inflation. The central government announces it twice a year. The current DA rate is 53 per cent.
/14The central government has 3 sets of cities to provide HRA to its employees. The HRA amount in their salary depends on the city they live in. E.g., X class cities are metropolitan cities, where employees get HRA at 24 per cent of their basic pay. In Y class cities, or Tier II cities, employees get 16 per cent of their basic pay, and in Z class cities, or small towns and villages, HRA is 8 per cent of the basic pay.
/14However, in any condition, it should not be less than Rs 5,400 for Class X cities, Rs 3,600 for Class Y cities, and Rs 1,800 for Class Z cities.
/14Central government employees also get TA if they are travelling for official purposes. Employees in the pay level of 6 and above are eligible for an air travel allowance. Employees in pay level 5 and below will be provided an allowance to travel by first class/AC-III/AC chair car by train.

However, to get the hostel subsidy, hostel accommodation should belong to the residential school. The reimbursement facility is available for students up to Class 12.
