As capital gains tax rates change, here's how much income tax you will pay now on Rs 5 lakh mutual fund earnings

Finance Minister Nirmala Sitharaman increased the long term capital gains tax (LTCG) from 10 per cent to 12.50 per cent and the short term capital gains (STCG) tax from 15 per cent to 20 per cent. There is one relaxation for mutual fund investors with a holding period of more than a year. The exemption limit has been increased from Rs 1 lakh to Rs 1.25 lakh.
