PPO Number: Pension Payment Order, or PPO number, is issued by the Employees' Provident Fund (EPF) to pension beneficiaries. A PPO number can be handy when filing grievances with the Employee Provident Fund Organization (EPFO). A PPO number is also mandatory for receiving a pension in a new bank account due to the closure of the earlier bank account.

What is PPO number?

PPO number is a unique 12-digit number designated to every pensioner under the EPF. This unique 12-digit number acts as a reference number for transactions and communications associated with the Employee Pension Scheme, or EPS.

The 12-digit number comprises the code of the PPO issuing authority and the sequence number. The first five digits represent the code number of the PPO issuing authority, and the next two digits refer to the issue year, the following 4 digits represent the PPO’s sequence number, and the last number indicates a digital code.

Why is PPO number important?

A PPO number is required to transfer money to different accounts. A PPO number is also required to track pensions online, i.e. to know the online pension status.

How to find PPO number

Step 1: Visit the official website of EPFO ​​- www.epfindia.gov.in.
Step 2: Click on 'Pensioners' Portal' in Online Services.
Step 3: Now Know Your Pension Status option will appear on the left side. Click on this option.
Step 4: After this, you will see 'know your PPO No.' on the left side of the dashboard.
Step 5: After clicking on this, you will have to enter the bank account or PF number linked to your EPF and submit it.
Step 6: After submission, your PPO number will appear in front of you.
