With the arrival of spring comes Holi, which is celebrated as the festival of fertility, colour, and love, as well as the triumph of good versus evil. It is celebrated in most parts of India. The festival is split into two events: Holika Dahan and Rangwali Holi. As we are gearing up to mark this festival of spring amid love, we tell you some money lessons that you can associate with this festival. In this festival of Holi, we bring out various colours of gulal or coloured powders that are originally extracted from flowers. The diverse colours that we smear on each other makes Holi interesting and enjoyable. These many colours of Holi that we use to play the festival also teach us the benefits of diversifying our portfolio.

The festival also teaches us to diversify our investments among various asset classes so as to minimize our risks and maximize our returns.

As the fesitval is celebrated to mark victory of good over evil by burning ‘Holika’, we should also try only clean our homes and streets on the eve of Holi but also make a pledge to burn out the burden of bad debt. This burden may be related to your debt that may be impacting your Cibil score negatively as well.

Prepare a list of all such things that you can do to clean your portfolio and think of certain practical ways to repay your high cost debt first. Cleaning your portfolio may be a bit difficult, but make a pledge to embark upon this path on this festival to make yourself happy and tension free.

In the Indian tradition, every festival comes with its special features that includes recipes catering to the sweet tooth. On Holi, we specially wait for gujiyas, phirnis and thandai. Since
the month is also related to end of financial year, we need not forget our stock of the investments.

Therefore, while enjoying the sweetness of Holi and its multi-hued wonders, we should also give a thought to money lessons related to our tax planning to save our assets.

Since there is no better time of the year than this to celebrate colours in all their glory, we wish that Holi makes your portfolio bloom in the year ahead and bring you happiness year after year.
