SBI Ultimatum for users
SBI bank account holders have been provided a deadline - the last date to register is December 1, 2018. So, if this applies to you, then rush to add mobile phone number to your account in bank's directory.
Where to go for update?
SBI customers need to visit their nearest SBI branch before the deadline in order to add mobile phone number to their bank account. Adding cell phone number to bank account may save you from many hurdles. In fact, you will not be able to even use the instant money transfer via net banking feature plus other services.
Why SBI made it mandatory?
In fact, SBI has taken this step in interest of its customers to protect them from ongoing banking frauds. Not just cheats in India, hackers from abroad, especially North Korea have been stealing money from bank ATMs, it was reported recently by security software company Symantec. If bank account holders register their cell phone number with SBI, then the bank will inform them immediately of each and every transactions that happens in their account via SMS. So, it is in benefit of bank account holders to register their mobile number, which may save them from losing money unknowingly.
