The central government's net direct tax collections rose 9.4 per cent in the financial year so far, showed official data released on Wednesday. The higher single-digit percentage rise came on the back of a gradual increase in gross collections along with a sharp fall in refunds -- thereby leaving a higher amount on a net basis.
