Diwali 2024 Bank Holidays: Are you wondering about the bank holidays amid the celebration of the festival of lights, Diwali? The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) has allocated a three-day holiday due to Diwali, Kali Puja, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel's Birthday, Naraka Chaturdashi, Kut, Kannada Rajyothsava, Govardhan Pooja, and Vikram Savant New Year Day from October 31 to November 2. The central bank has announced the holidays under the Negotiable Instruments Act across states and cities.

In the October month states, including Delhi, Bihar; Patna, Andhra Pradesh; Hyderabad, Rajasthan; Jaipur, Maharashtra; Mumbai, Pune, Madhya Pradesh; Bhopal, Uttar Pradesh; Lucknow, Kanpur, Gujarat; Ahmedabad, Kerala; Thiruvananthapuram, Tamil Nadu; Chennai, and Jammu & Kashmir (J&K); Srinagar will be closed on Thursday (October 31).

On Thursday, in 24 cities, the financial banks will not be able to provide services due to the festive season. Here is the list:

In the next month i.e. November states such as Tripura, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh; Bhopal, Uttarakhand; Dehradun, Sikkim, Assam; Guwahati, Manipur; Imphal, Jammu and Kashmir; Jammu, Srinagar, Maharashtra; Mumbai, Nagpur, Chhattisgarh; Raipur, and Meghalaya; Shillong. According to the RBI, among these 14 cities will be closed due to the holiday under the NIA Act on Friday (November 1-2); check out the full list:

Diwali 2024 Bank Holidays | Common cities with 2-day bank holidays

As per RBI data, bank holidays are scheduled on October 31 and November 1 in cities like Bengaluru, Bhopal, Guwahati and Raipur.

Belapur, Dehradun, Gangtok, Mumbai and Nagpur join Bengaluru in observing holidays on November 1 and 2. Notably, Bengaluru will observe a bank holiday on three consecutive days, from October 31 to November 2.
