Stock to Watch Out For: Zomato Ltd change its name to Eternal Ltd; brand will be known as...

Zomato Limited Board today (Thursday, February 6, 2025) changed the name of the food delivery company.

The large cap company will now be known as Eternal Limited. 

However, there will be no change in the name of the brand Zomato.

In a letter to BSE on Thursday, Zomato Ltd, said, "We would like to hereby inform that the board of directors of the Company vide resolution dated February 6, 2025, have approved the change in the name of the Company from ‘Zomato Limited’ to ‘Eternal Limited’, and the consequential amendment in the Memorandum of Association and Articles of Association to give effect to the same."

Deepinder Goyal, the company's founder and CEO, in a letter to shareholders, wrote on Thursday, "When we acquired Blinkit, we started using “Eternal” (instead of Zomato) internally to distinguish between the company and the brand/app. We also thought that we would publicly rename the company to Eternal, the day something beyond Zomato became a significant driver of our future. Today, with Blinkit, I feel we are there. We would like to rename Zomato Ltd., the company (not the brand/app), to Eternal Ltd."

Zomato was established in 2007 by the name of Foodiebay.
    

Zomato share price 

The stock of the company ended trading on BSE on Thursday at Rs 229.05, down by 0.95 per cent, or Rs 2.20.

Zomato was the first food delivery business company to be listed on the stock market.

It made its BSE and NSE debut in July 2021. 

Zomato entered the BSE Sensex for the first time on December 23, 2024.

Zomato share price history 

The Zomato stock has grown by 63.37 per cent in the 1-year period.

The benchmark Nifty 50, meanwhile, has jumped by 7.63 per cent in the same time frame.
