Shares of Mahanagar Gas Limited (MGL) and Gail (India) Ltd are under pressure today, November 17, following damage in the gas pipeline owned by GAIL inside the RCF compound, which has affected the supply of compressed natural gas (CNG) in the region.
As of 10 am, the MGL stock was trading at Rs 1,239, down by 1.08 per cent from the previous close of Rs 1,253.55. While the stock of Gail (India) Ltd was trading at Rs 184.15, up by 0.35 per cent from the previous close of Rs 183.50.
<h2>Mumbai CNG supply disrupted</h2>
According to the statement released by MGL, due to third-party damage in the main gas supply pipeline of GAIL inside the RCF compound, the gas supply to MGL’s City Gate Station (CGS) at Wadala has been affected.
MGL said that it is ensuring supply to its domestic PNG consumers is maintained as a priority without interruption.
CNG stations across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai are likely to remain closed due to the stoppage of gas supply at  CGS Wadala and eventually to the MGL pipeline network.
"However, CNG stations across Mumbai, Thane and Navi Mumbai, including the dedicated CNG stations for public transport undertakings, may not operate due to the stoppage of gas supply at CGS Wadala and, by extension, the MGL pipeline network," the company said.

The reduced CNG supply is causing significant inconvenience, particularly for auto-rickshaw and taxi services that rely heavily on CNG for daily operations. As a result, transportation services in these areas are facing delays and operational challenges.
MGL has also advised that the industrial and commercial customers in the affected areas have been advised to switch to alternate fuel.
The company has assured that gas supplies across the MGL network will be restored after the damage is repaired and supply to CGS Wadala is resumed. 
"Gas supplies across MGL’s network will normalise once the damage is rectified and supply is restored to CGS Wadala. Inconvenience caused is regretted," the statement read.
