ONGC, NTPC, Axis Bank, RIL and HDFC are among the top losers, down nearly 3-2 per cent. On the other hand, Tech Mahindra, Bharti Airtel, Kotak Bank and SBI Life are among the top gainers in the Nifty basket, trading with gains of around 1-2 per cent.

Share Market Today LIVE | Market breadth in favour of bears; over 160 stocks hit lower circuit

The equity market has come under heavy selling pressure The S&P BSE Sensex was trading at 62,521.88, down around 447.25 points, or 0.71 per cent. In today's trade, the market breadth was in favour of bears, as out of 3,562 companies traded on the BSE, 1,620 advanced and 1,821 declined, while 121 were unchanged, as per the BSE data. Read more

Share Market Today LIVE | Nifty Bank tumbles 600 pts; Axis Bank, AU Small Finance Bank decline over 2%

Nifty Bank index tanks over 600 points or 1.35 per cent, days after hitting fresh peaks. The index was trading 601.2 points lower at 43,835.15.

The index opened at 44,318 today and has hit a high and low of 44,339.05 and 43,840.35, respectively, so far in the trade. On Tuesday, the Nifty Bank index settled the session at 44,436.35 points. Read more

Share Market LIVE Updates: Tega Industries share hit 10% upper circuit

Tega Industries shares were locked in a 10 per cent upper circuit and touched a new record high of Rs 899.85 per share on the BSE during Wednesday’s trading session. The buying interest in the stock can be attributed to strong January-March quarter earnings for the financial year gone by.

The Kolkata-based engineering solutions provider company’s shares gained over 46 per cent since listing. Tega Industries shares made a stellar market debut at 66 per cent premium at Rs 760 per share from the IPO issue price of Rs 453 at the upper end in December 2021. READ MORE

Torrent Pharma are up over 3 per cent or Rs 59.7 at Rs 1,773.25 on NSE. Torrent Pharma shares surged to scale a 52-week high on Wednesday, continuing to rise for the fifth session in a row, a day after the drug maker reported a quarterly net profit as against a net loss for the corresponding period a year ago. Market expert Mehraboon Irani in conversation with Zee Business Managing Editor Anil Singhvi says that there is absolutely no complaint. He said that the results overall were much better than expected. Certainly results season wasn't the reason behind the dip to 17,500 in Nifty50, Irani added. He said that the market actually found reasons to go up, including FII buying and weakness in the dollar index.

Shares of HDFC Life Insurance Company – a life insurance arm of HDFC Group – jumped nearly 3 per cent to touch the day’s high level of Rs 602.75 per share minutes after the market open on the BSE during Wednesday’s session.

According to Zee Business report, ABRDN – formerly known as Standard Life – to exit the life insurance company by selling an entire 1.66 per cent equity or 3.57 crore shares at Rs 565-585 per share through block deals on Wednesday.
