
Tata Morors Demerger Record date: Tata Motors has announced the record date of demerger. In its latest exchange filing company informed that Its board has fixed Tuesday, October 14, 2025 as the Record Date for the demerger.
In an exchange filing, the automaker noted "Company has fixed Tuesday, October 14, 2025 as the “Record Date” for the purpose of ascertaining the shareholders of the Company who shall be issued and allotted 1 (One) share of TMLCV (face value of INR 2/- each fully paid up), for every 1 (One) share of the Company (face value of INR 2/- each fully paid up) of the same class of shares outstanding and as held by such shareholder in the Company on the 'Record Date'."
Share Ratio: Tata Motors has fixed the demerger share ratio at 1:1, meaning shareholders will receive one share of TMLCV (Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Ltd) for every existing share they hold.
Listing: The new shares of TMLCV are proposed to be listed on BSE and NSE, subject to regulatory approvals.
Effective Date: The demerger officially came into effect today, October 1, 2025, following approval by the company's board in August 2024.
Structure: The company will now operate as two distinct entities —
- TMLCV (Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles Ltd)
- TMPVL (Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd), which includes EVs and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
The demerger had earlier received a green signal from the National Company Law Tribunal (NCLT), which sanctioned the Composite Scheme of Arrangement involving Tata Motors Limited, the Demerged Company; TMLCV, the Resulting Company; and TMPVL, the Amalgamating Company.
Tata Motors’ shares responded positively to the announcement. As of 1 PM Wednesday, the stock surged over 4.5%, trading at Rs 712.30 on the BSE. The automakers enjoys the market cap of Rs 2,62,177.96 crores.
