Tata Motors Demerger: Shares of Tata Motors Limited (formerly TML Commercial Vehicles Limited or TMCV) are set to debut on the stock exchanges following the completion of the company’s demerger process. The company announced that Tata Motors shares will list on the NSE and BSE on November 12.
In a notice issued by the BSE on Monday, November 10, Tata Motors announced that its shares will be listed on both the NSE and BSE on November 12. Trading in the stock is set to begin at 10 AM on the listing day.
The demerged entity, Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (TMCV), carries a face value of Rs 2 per share. The stock will trade under the ticker symbol TMCV.
As per listing regulations, TMCV shares will be placed in the T Group of Securities (T2T segment) for the first 10 trading sessions following the listing, ensuring controlled price discovery during the initial period.
The record date for Tata Motors’ demerger was set as October 14, while the scheme officially took effect on October 1, 2025. Shares of Tata Motors Commercial Vehicles (CV) were credited to investors’ Demat accounts on October 16, but remain in a frozen state.
Trading in Tata Motors shares is scheduled to commence at 10 AM on November 12, marking the first session post-demerger.
Tata Motors shares witnessed a sharp price adjustment on October 14, following the special trading session held on the record date.
On the BSE, the stock closed at Rs 399, compared with the previous close of Rs 660.90, marking a downward adjustment of Rs 261.90.
Similarly, on the NSE, Tata Motors shares ended the session at Rs 400, lower than the prior close of Rs 660.75, reflecting a price adjustment of Rs 260.75.
Tata Motors demerger ratio was 1:1. It means that one share of the demerged company (Tata Motors) was given to the eligible shareholders of Tata Motors Passenger Vehicle (TMPV).
Under the restructuring plan, Tata Motors will retain its commercial vehicle operations, while Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd (TMPV), already listed, will manage the passenger vehicle, electric vehicle (EV), and Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) businesses.
